Based in Northamptonshire, in the heart of the English countryside, the brand brings together English heritage, thoughtful design and a modern approach to living.

Our Story

It began with a small candle company.

1 RED DOOR LANE began as a small candle company, created from Misty’s love of fragrance, atmosphere and the way a home can make you feel.

From the beginning, the idea was never only about candles. It was about creating a sense of home: warmth, character, comfort and the small details that make a room feel personal.

Living in the English countryside, Misty would pass cottages, Georgian houses, old farmhouses, manor houses and converted barns, often finding herself drawn to homes with distinctive red doors.

They always sparked the same curiosity: What was on the other side? What did the rooms look like? How had the people who lived there combined old and new? Which colours, fabrics, furniture, objects and scents made that particular house feel like home?

That curiosity, together with the early candle business, became the foundation for something much bigger: a complete interiors and lifestyle brand for the whole home.

The red door is more than our name or emblem. It represents the threshold between the outside world and the place that is uniquely yours.

Meet the Founder

Misty Looby — Founder & Creative Director

Misty is a versatile product and clothing designer with more than ten years’ experience working in interior design.

Her background across product, fashion and interiors gives her a broad approach to design—one that looks beyond an individual object and considers how colour, material, proportion, pattern and function work together.

Rather than seeing a duvet cover simply as bedding, Misty considers the whole room: the headboard, the window, the lighting, the textures, the furniture and how the design story can continue naturally through the rest of the home.

We draw inspiration from English houses, gardens, architecture, historic textiles and craftsmanship, then reinterpret those references for contemporary homes.

Today, that vision is expanding into a home interiors and lifestyle brand, with bedlinen becoming one of our first major interior collections and the beginning of a much wider product story.

Over time, the world of 1 RED DOOR LANE will extend naturally throughout the home—from soft furnishings, textiles and decorative accessories to furniture, lighting, table, bath, fragrance and lifestyle pieces for everyday living.

We think in rooms rather than individual products, creating collections that feel connected without becoming overly coordinated.

The inspiration for 1 RED DOOR LANE can begin with a Georgian doorway, a faded country-house textile, an English garden at the end of summer, an equestrian detail, the colour of an old leather chair, a winter landscape or a barn conversion where historic beams meet contemporary design.

A 1 RED DOOR LANE piece might find its home in a country cottage, a London townhouse, a modern apartment, a converted barn or a grand Georgian house. It is not the architecture that defines our customer. It is the desire to create a home with character, comfort and individuality.
